4 Girls and a Farm

I posted a photo last week of Chloe playing with 4 girls who look like they could be her long lost sisters. I had so much fun photographing the 4 sisters that I couldn’t wait to play with all of the pictures. So without further adieu, here are some of my faves from our trip last week. I’ll start with playtime out in the alfalfa field behind their house.

It wasn’t easy to get all 4 of them in one spot for very long. But with some coaxing and promises of ice cream, all 4 girls managed to not only stand in one spot, but look at the camera at the same time!  Do you want to know why it was such a monumental task? Because the girls would have much rather been doing this:

Here are a few photos of the girls individually. They are all such beautiful young ladies!

I have about 100 other pictures that I would just love to post… these girls are so photogenic and so much fun! But I will end my post with a funny photo of the 4 sisters playing with Chloe. I can hear them all giggling right now:

Thank you again Callista, Doreen, Ellie and Anneke for being such great models and for being Chloe’s big sisters. We had so much fun and we’d love to do it again anytime!

Abby the Otterhound

Ever seen an Otterhound? Prior to last week, I hadn’t either. Nor had I ever heard of one.

Until I met Abby, an adorable and lovable Otterhound puppy who stole my heart. I was so smitten with her, I had to excuse myself from the exam room so I could grab my camera. Fortunately, Abby’s parents were kind and patient and let me click away.

The Otterhound is an old British breed and there are fewer than 1000 Otterhounds worldwide. I feel honored to have met one of these spectacular creatures.

Thank you Abby for coming in to see me the other day I hope to see you again soon!

Where’s Chloe?

I took the girls to visit some family friends yesterday. They have 4 beautiful girls and I wanted to practice my photography skills on someone other than my own kids. Ella hung out with daddy while I chased 5 crazy girls all around… I must say that Chloe fit in perfectly. I got the 5 girls to lay down so I could take this photo. Can you guess which one is mine?

Thanks Jacquie for letting me photograph your girls! And thanks girls for accepting Chloe like she is one of the family.

Memories of a little girl

I flew down south last weekend for my BFF’s baby shower. Kim is having a little girl and her mom pulled out all the stops! Momma is so very creative and does such a beautiful job organizing anything… whether it be a baby shower, a wedding in Kauai, or simply just lunch at her house.

Momma’s inspiration for decorating the table was the poem from Kim’s shower invitation:

Blankets, bibs, booties & bows

Tea parties, dolls & dress up clothes

Bonnets, ribbons & hair to curl,

Kimberly is having a girl!

The table decorations brought back such wonderful memories from my childhood. I took dozens of photographs because everything was so beautiful. And because I wanted those memories to last forever…

I wanted to be a ballerina when I grew up… it took every last ounce of restraint for me to not grab those toes shoes off the table and put them on my feet!

And then there was Kim’s childhood tea set, perfectly preserved and absolutely adorable!

I have hundreds of more photos to go through… I started with these because they made me happy. Here are just a few more of my favorite things from the day:

Kim (or I should say Kim’s baby) received so many wonderful gifts! Beautiful clothes and essential gear were in abundance. But there was one gift that took my breath away. You must first understand that I am not a spiritual person. But this is a gift purchased in Italy and blessed by the pope. Spiritual or not, that is what I call a gift:

Thank you momma for such a beautiful shower! Thank you for inviting me and for putting up with me, the paparazzi! There will be several more posts on this event in the future, and I’ll be sure to include a few of the mom-to-be herself.

Ella’s First Birthday

It is hard to believe that my baby is one year old. Ella’s birthday was on Monday, however, we spent much of the weekend celebrating. It started out with a party on Saturday, which included some BBQ, a giant cake and a bounce house. We continued the celebration on Sunday with a day trip to Santa Cruz where we met my photography idol Jo Ann Manolis for some family photos at Wilder Ranch (I’ll post a link to those once they are available). Monday was the actual birthday, which was pretty mellow, all things considered. Grandma and Grandpa came over for some pizza and cake. Not a bad way to kick off Ella’s second year.

As usual, I have tons of photos and would love to post them all. But I’m just going to show you a few of my favorite little birthday girl:

Wah Zat?

Since Chloe has started preschool, we have been inundated by her art work. She brings home 2 projects a day, 3 days a week. They are really quite awesome, and I just love to see what she has created. However, sometimes it is really difficult to determine what exactly it is that she has made. I give you: Wah zat? Translation in Chloe speak: what is that?

Wah Zat?

Wah Zat?

ME: Oh Chloe, you made a chicken!

Chloe: It’s a duck.

ME: Chloe, it’s beautiful! What did you paint?

CHLOE: A giraffe

ME: Chloe, I love the chalk! What did you make?

CHLOE: It’s a rabbit.

P.S. I saw many of the other kids leaving the school with chalk drawings of rabbits. Granted, Chloe is the youngest in the class. I prefer to think of her as a artistic genius.
